What is Ayurveda?

 

  • Ayurveda is the world’s oldest living, breathing health care system which dates back to over 5,000 years ago and has origins in northern India 

  • Sister science to yoga, these two practices were never meant to be separated but were designed instead to be practiced alongside one and other.

  • Ayurveda gives us the knowledge and tools to bring our whole being (mind, body and soul) into balance so that we may step on the mat, entering our yogic practice to deepen our connection to the divine.

  • Although its wisdom is ancient, it is an adaptable science that is very much alive in us all. It has the ability to withstand the test of time, making the practice still relevant and so powerful for us to all enjoy today!

What are the major differences between Ayurveda and our Western approach for health & healing?

 

  • Ayurveda recognizes each person in the most holistic (meaning whole) of ways by assessing all layers of the being; mind, body and soul. 

  • Ayurveda is a prevention-based system and works more to address the underlying cause of disease where our Western approach to health is more symptomatic and our habit in the west is based more on seeking medical attention once a disease is already full blown or has manifested.

  • In the west we tend to take more of a one-size-fits-all approach to treating an illness or disease while Ayurveda understands that people are unique in their mind/body type and because of this we all need slightly different diets, lifestyle routines and daily habits to support our own health.

In this session you will learn all about the different types of digestive fires, signs and symptoms of when they are in or out of balance and life long tips to support your digestive health on a day-to-day basis!

Tuning into nature and harnessing energy during the different cycles within the day, season or even planetary alignment supports you in living your life to the fullest!

 

Sixth Session: Self-care and beauty practices. Ayurveda knows and understands that true beauty can only come from the inside out! You will learn all about Ojas and the subtle essence they bring to your hair, skin, nails and support the over vibrancy of your being!
